Biography
Hi and thank you for taking the time to visit here.
Have been involved in radio since the seventies and have always enjoyed
it. Something that is always fascinating is listening to different
stations interacting with each other.
Still haven't worked out as to why sometimes stations call "CQ" for ages
on HF then when they finally get a reply they say 5973 then go back to
calling "CQ" again - What's all that about??? (excluding contests)
Only ever operate mobile and so for this reason have made a big effort
to ensure that the mobile setup is a good one. We are using a full .01
Kilo watt of output power and the antenna's are all roof mounted and
well up to the job required of them. Also used is an auto tuner to help
with HF work while mobile.
All bands and all modes are covered, however for "Top band" we do have
to stop and set-up the 80ft HF dipole that is carried in the vehicle. We
also have a 40ft antenna mast that mounts on top of the vehicle for the
collinear when the vehicle is parked -this mast can also be used as a
centre point(inverted V)for the HF dipole when required.
We are in the process of designing a 60ft quick mount mast system for
mounting to the vehicle for use when a 40ft mast just isn't enough!
Kind Regards,
M6HPO

UPDATES:
03/04/2013 - Flood Lighting Rig:
We have now designed and manufactured a bespoke quick mount flood
lighting rig for the vehicle. This flood lighting rig mounts to the roof
of the vehicle and when switched to full power will flood light an area
of up to approximately 20 metres around the vehicle in all directions.
The lighting rig can be deployed in under 30 seconds when required -
Because you never know when you might just need it?
................................
09/05/2013 - 60ft Mast:
The quick release mast mounting system is now complete & fitted to
the vehicle. The mast however is not able to be used to it's full height
until the quick mount remote control electric winch system is fitted -
Watch this space!!
................................
20/05/2013 - 60ft Mast:
The quick mount remote control electric winch system has now been
ordered and will be arriving shortly. This system will allow the mast to
be winched up into position from horizontal to fully vertical using the
winch via wireless remote control.
................................
20/05/2013 - Pressure Washer:
A vehicle mounted high power pressure washer system has also been
ordered and we will shortly be custom fitting it to the vehicle - This
will enable us to wash down the vehicle & equipment etc at any point
before or after deployment as and when required.
................................
20/05/2013 - Compressed Air:
We have also now ordered an air compressor which will be fitted to the
vehicle, again using a custom made quick mount system - Because you can
never have enough compressed air!
................................
03/06/2013 - Electric Winch System, Pressure Washer & Compressor:
These items have all now arrived and we have started to manufacture the
quick release custom fitting system to allow rapid fitting/removal of
the equipment - We hope to be fully operational within the next week or
so...
................................
10/06/2013 - Electric Winch System, Pressure Washer & Compressor:
Now all fully operational.
................................
10/06/2013 - 60ft Mast:
Now that the electric winch system has been fitted the 60ft mast has been tried & tested at full height and works a treat!
................................
02/08/2013 - Diesel Train Horns:
We recently read on a website that the loudest horn you could get for
your vehicle was the "Hadley 26 inch" unless of course you were to "saw
the horns off of a diesel train"
With this in mind, we have now purchased & installed a set of diesel
train air horns which run off of the compressed air tank via solenoid
valves.
These diesel train horns have an output of 170 decibels @ 1 metre and without question are
"The Real Deal!"
(For those of you who may be wondering - Yes they are fully legal in the UK!)
................................
29/08/2013 - Rotator System for the 60ft Mast:
We are now working on a remote control rotator system for the 60ft mast.
This also involves modification to the mast winching system mounting
point so as to allow the mast to rotate while still being held in the
vertical position by the winch.

Equipment
The equipment is all working very well at the moment!
