Hello, my name is Wesley and I run the UK018-L & SHF1ELD-L gateways in the Sheffield & Chesterfield area.

I live in Dronfield, about a mile from the South Yorkshire border (see map)

My QTH is almost at the top of a hill, at about 650ft /200mts ASL, this is a great spot for radio.

About me

I have always been interested in radio, ever since my father brought a 19 set home ( ww2 radio), I was about 8 years old at the time.

(just the right age to start  short wave listening SWL)

The 19 set was set up in my bedroom, I was shown how to use it and ever since then, I have been interested in radio.

We used that radio for about 10 years. In 1974 I moved from Brighton up to Sheffield, I did very little in the way of radio until 1980.

In 1979 I moved to Dronfield and this was when I started my interest in radio again. I bought a Citizens Band Radio and had a lot of fun with it for quite a while.

Then in 1986 I took and passed the RAE (Radio Amateur Exam) and in 1989 passed the Morse code test at 12 wpm (words per minute).

When I heard about PMR 446 in 1999 I was very interested. I didn’t get a 446 radio until 2002 and was always looking

on the internet to see how people were using their sets. When on Delboy’s http://www.delboys446.co.uk/index.htm site, I found a link to (446user.co.uk) that was in March

2003 and my Link has been on 24/7 since then.
