It
works the same as PMR446. No licence but the correct type of radio
equipment will still be needed. Anything converted will NOT be allowed. UK27/81 radios are no longer made and
the type approval has been withdrawn. Ofcom, however, have said that UK27/81
equipment may still be used for the radios useful lifetime. This can mean
virtually anything as CB's can work without problems (If correctly used) for
many years. Until another piece of legislation emerges in the future then it is business as usual as
far as these type of radios go. This was taken from the Open channel web site http://www.geocities.com/open_channel/ |
While restarting the system this morning I pushed the (ON
BUTTON / POWER SWITCH) through in to the computer case. A quick fix was
required before the gateway was due back on at 20:00 hr. The reset button now
powers up the Gateway computer. I will post more
exciting news when & if it happens. 73 de Wes…UK1AB /
26TM144 / UK-SK18 Web server My web server went
down with ERROR 500. I messed with it for most of last week. In the end I had to
reinstall the program. If you are reading
this then it is still working… 73 de Wes…UK1AB /
26TM144 / UK-SK18 NEW WEB SERVER In the next few days I
will put this web-site on to a dedicated machine (server). The new machine will
only be used for this web-site. Please be patient, if
this site is down, try again later. This measure should
stop users of my PC, inadvertently shutting it down. 73 Wes… Well it has been just
over a week now and its still running. OFF LINE My ISP (internet
service provider) Has had connectivity problems, this was showing itself
yesterday with an intermittent service. Today there has been
no service at all because of this, my website and rf gateway have not been
working. Six months on this
server Well my server has
been running for nearly 6 months now,
with out many problems. The only real problem
has been with my ISP dropping off from time to time, with connectivity
issues. Well here is to the
next 6 months. 73 de Wes…UK1AB /
26TM144 / UK-SK18 New gateway radio Changed the gateway
radio this week, from the Commtron FM40 to a new TTI TCB-1100 with CTCSS
& VOX. So far I am not very
happy with it, the audio through the microphone, it is muffled but the audio
through the gateway sounds clear. There is some kind of
noise when the rig un-keys, causing the gateway to bounce. I am still trying to
get a rig check from the locals around Sheffield & Chesterfield. I have sorted my
problems with the radio, it was operator error. My plan is to use
CTCSS on the gateway some time in the future, I might get my ars kicked if I
start using CTCSS straight away. Gateway radio 4 months
on. I have had one or two
problems setting the radio up to use as an internet gateway/link. (1)The radio doesn’t
like to be left on 24/7 and will not transmit any audio from time to time,( I
now reset the radio every 4 hours, via the use of a timer on the power
supply) (2)The audio from the
speaker output is very high and overloads my sound card (I built a plug in
audio attenuator to solve this problem) (3)The FM deviation is
a little to narrow, some stations calling into the gateway tend to over
deviate and so close the squelch as they talk.(other users on the system, tell them to back off
the mic) (4)Delboy said that the
microphone on these radios isn’t very good, it makes you sound like you are
talking through a bunch of bananas. ( I have to agree with him on that one) Well the gateway/link
radio has been running fine, since I made those tweaks some four months
ago. 73 de Wes 26TM144 Change of channel. I have changed the gateway channel to Ch3
and the ctcss is now 88.5 Hz. Truckers had moved
onto ch4 and they couldn’t hear the gateway, I have also changed the
ctcss code because there are some radios out there, that can only transmit
the code 88.5 Hz. The Magnum Deltaforce
will only tx 88.5 Hz according to the manual I read last might. I will put up a list
of which CB and HF radios have ctcss fitted as standard. 73 de Wes 26TM144 Back on my blog/feet. Hi all, I have not
done anything with this web page for about 6 Months or so. The reason for this is
that just after Christmas I suffered a stroke. Well I am on the mend
now, slow but sure (more slow than any thing else .) 73 de Wes… Downloads I have just found an
old disk (CD) with lots of amateur radio software on it. Programs such as,
antenna design, packet (BPQ & BayCom) and other bits and pieces. All this soft ware is
either free ware or share ware. Watch this space for
more info. 73 de Wes.. Still here Still here. 73 de Wes.. |
